Te Uaratanga | Our Mission
Our Mission Statement is inspired by Proverbs 22:6:
Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it.
We believe that all children have unique God-given talents, and as teachers we believe that God has a plan and a purpose for each child. We believe we are God's disciples and endeavour to accomplish his plan to lead, guide, develop and inspire our children.
Te Kaupapa | Our Philosophy
Our Philosophy is inspired by the ECE Curriculum Te Whāriki and Tiriti O Waitangi:
Our Curriculum is founded on the following aspirations for children to grow up as competent, confident learners and communicators, healthy in mind, body and spirit, secure in their sense of belonging and knowledge that they make a valued contribution to society. (Te Whāriki 1996, p.9)
Partnership: We believe children do not learn in isolation, but in partnership with parents, teachers and whānau. Open communication and trusting relationships between teachers and whānau play an important part in our understanding of each child, their culture and community.
Participation: We work to provide a high quality education programme where children will follow their own learning agendas within the security of Te Whāriki. Our children will be successful problem-solvers by acquiring life-skills through the Curriculum and extracurricular activities that are incorporated into their education.
Protection: We work to develop and enhance a sense of self-worth, identity, confidence and enjoyment in our children by acknowledging their languages and cultures in our centres, especially Te Reo and tikanga Māori.
